Vision of contentment
On July 20, 2023 we lost Mark; a beautiful human, who was our dear friend and my manager. To loose a loved one that goes way before his time, is something deeply tragic. Yet, to witness someone mastering the process of dying and be at one with his destiny, has been an incredible experience for many of us. In the week of his passing Maarten and I came together in a little house in the forrest to write music. Two friends, awaiting the now certain destiny of our friend and bound by the twilight of his presence and the solace of our instruments, we created the soundtrack for his journey to the other side.
Today marks the release of ‘vision of contentment’. My gratitude goes out to Maarten Vos in whom I have found a friend in music for life. To Nils Frahm for masterfully mixing the album and for being the pioneer that he is, it’s an honor to have worked with you! To Felix Grimm for believing in us from the very beginning and for your friendship with Mark and myself throughout the years. To Martijn Meeske and Eva Roëll for creating the welcoming circumstances in which this music could arrive. To Joris van Welsen who generously stepped in to take over our day to day management when Mark became ill and for having my back since.
And lastly to Mark for being an inspiration for the rest of my life.
